| Treaty on Biological Medicine A modern scientific approach to Oncology and HIV-AIDS Antiviral, Cytostatic, Antimutagenic and Immunomodulating Activity of Mistletoe-lectins ML-I, ML-II, ML-III and Viscotoxins. In 1991, when I said in a Convention in the USA, that the AIDS-HIV virus was undergoing a fast genetic mutation, and that it is alive and has "intelligence", they did not understand. Today, this fact is widely known, and studies carried out by Brazilian and American scientists in Brazil since 1998 were published, confirming the existence of an HIV mutating virus that is totally resistant to present medicines. In September, 1998, in the last AIDS-HIV World Congress, professor Dr Robert Gorter, Director of the San Francisco Hospital AIDS department (USA), http://www.thebody.com/atn/304.html, President of the European Institute of Oncologic and Immunotherapeutic Investigations and Professor in the School Hospital of the University of California (USA) said that pilot and experimetal tests showed that the combinations of AZT with an immunomodulating substance of the kind of Mistletoe-lectin such as those of Helixor ® and Pabluster® were the recommended therapies to inhibit the progression of HIV (Conference on AIDS, Dallas, USA, Nov. 98). So, my assertion was right, since he was referring to a "super disease", which was intelligent, invading, of fast mutability and with an excess of vitality, similar to present manifestations of cancer. The only solution is treatment with a medicine of high biological molecular activity, and this can only be achieved with antique, prehistoric drugs, that also undergone fewer mutations, losing effectiveness (molecular weight) weakened by the passing of time. The tests that are being accomplished by different high-complexity laboratories and important universities from the northern hemisphere, prove what I have been asserting for so many years, since I am an active member in this pilot and experimental tests (see prospective studies). For the first time we were able to observe in laboratory tests and under a modern super-microscope, how mistletoe-lectins ML-I, II and III and Viscotoxins on a 3D Collagen Matrix, increased the activity of white cells against breast and colon cancerous cells. We could in the end set the molecular and clinic technical arguments that prove the effectiveness of the mistletoe-lectin system, obtained from mistletoe of Viscum album. But it was also necessary to accept and change inflexible ideas, as Paracelsus said in 1400, and accept Biological Medicine modern theories. In this field, I explained my two conceptual models on cancer and AIDS-HIV therapy:
In the first case therapy consists of surgery, radiation and cytostatic and chemotherapy agents. In the second case therapy attempts to activate specifically the defence system (immunity) of the human body to exterminate malformed cells. The medical biological theory assumes that the immune system detects and removes cancerous cells. On the basis of this theory it is possible to understand the implication of a depressed human system. If we are able to accept and understand that cancer and AIDS are the result of an uncontrolled, excessive growth of live intelligent cells or cells invaded by a virus (HIV), we can try to fin a solution. For an unknown reason the body gave itself the satisfaction of accepting this situation without taking measures about the matter, or worse, as a suicidal reaction. Therefore, it is necessary to modify or change a way of life. This is an important fact to consider during treatment, otherwise, it is difficult for medicine of any kind to have any effect on the disease. Twenty three years ago a human settlement on the Canadian border was found in which native people and visitors from other races had not suffered from cancer or osteoporosis for 40,000 years, and they used certain medicinal plants of high molecular weight for special ceremonies and prepared others in a kind of ALCOHOLATURO or fermentation with mistletoe. I have been investigating for more than 40 years medicinal plants used in the history of man, beginning with my grandmother, native from Sajonia, Germany, whom, since I was a child, explained me the Metamorphosis of Plants, written by Goethe. This led me to assert, more than 20 ears ago, That nature has the cure for all our health troubles. In the last 12 years, I found in Nature the evidence of similar situations among plants. Plants with cancer cured by other plants? Plants with terrible viral infections cured by other vegetable species? A careful observation and investigation are needed to realise what happens around us. I will soon be reporting to the Worlds Scientific Community and to the regulating organisms the scientific essay in which I support my theory, my observations and the scientific evidences of my assertions, supported and protocolized by important Institutions and Scientific Universities of Europe and the USA. Abstract of Scientific EvidenceDuring the last 15 years forcible evidence appeared about the effectiveness of mistletoe-lectins obtained from mistletoe and Viscum album for the clinic treatment of cancer rheum arthritis- immune diseases in general and AIDS-HIV. The preparations Iscador, Helixor, Abnobaviscum, Vysorel (registered in Europe and in the USA as non-toxic Oncological Immunotherapeutic Medicines) and Pabluster (of Argentinian origin, now in the process of registration as Medicine in Argentina), alone or in combination, were improved through long and extensive pilot and experimental studies in Europe and the US (http://www.pabluster.com.ar) , in vitro, with animal and human specimens, having passed the 3 stages and other extensive studies. The last 15 years showed that treatments made of mistletoe-lectins as the basic ingredient were efficient due to their immunomodulating Antiviral Cytotoxic Antimutagenic function (for more details, write to pabluster@latinmail.com). Mistletoe preparations contain a great variety of biological constituents. Immunomodulating, cytotoxic and antiviral effects were documented. Glucose proteins flavonoids lipids among others were found in an extract specially prepared, apart from lectins and viscotoxins. The effectiveness lies in the mistletoe-lectins ML-I, II and III and in Viscotoxins which, in turn, compose a complex group made of proteins and saccharose, capable of joining cellular surfaces(ribosome inactivating proteins RIPs) and of inhibiting the protein synthesis, thus inactivating the ribosome (interfering in the intracellular protein synthesis), stimulating the production of cytokines "because it rises leukocyte production and activates leukocytosis". Mistletoe in itself affects metastasis processes and apoptosis. Viscotoxin, also a lectin, has a molecular structure similar to that of mistletoe but more toxic, that produces cellular necrosis. Apart from ML-I. II and III and Viscotoxins, mistletoe- lectin extracts contain polysaccharides and alkaloids, some of which have demonstrated to have biological activity. Some of these effects were found and properly documented by Dr. Carlos Schliemann, Dr. in Biological Medicine, from Argentina, author of the preparation "Pabluster", with special mistletoe from the Andean Cordillera, which was found to have higher molecular weight than Viscum album from the Swiss Alps. In Pablus Cordilleranus, mistletoe-lectins ML-I have a molecular weight of 30-35 Kda and lectins ML-II 65-70 Fda chain A with 48 Kda, chain B of MLI=33 to 34 Kda and LM-IV chain = 30 Kda. When we talk about HIV, we must consider that the organism has to strictly identify the cells invaded or infected by a virus (HIV). From the moment in which these are identified, and following the Biological Medicine principle that the human bodys immune system identifies and removes HIV-infected cells, it needs to increase immunity, since viruses with a great invading capacity and effective means to mislead the immune system, this is the moment in which Mistletoe-lectin active substances ML-I, ML-II and ML-III and Viscotoxins (cytostatic and antimutagenic) associated to other active substances present in mistletoe carry out their function, we have to consider that other substances found in mistletoe, of high molecular weight, have also biological activity, still with uncertain definition of their effect, but there is no doubt that the whole of mistletoe substances are the ones capable of inhibiting the progress of HIV. Works such as those by Robert Gorter, from the University of California, by Dr. Arndt Büssing, Dr. Cristina Itumpf, Dr. Carlos Schlieman and Dr. Tautz, from the Department of Cancer and HIV Investigations of the University Witten/Herdecke, Germany, make more comprehensible the reasons by which pilot and experimental studies demonstrated that a combination of AZT therapy with special mistletoe, inhibited the progression of HIV, and even for years no activity appeared.
